IIRC, Cricket uses a hack to circumvent rrdtool and pull summary data directly from RRD files. Since RRD file contents are platform dependent, Cricket needs to have specific support for all kinds of platforms, and since Cricket doesn't get a lot of updates, 64-bit platform support seem to be missing.

I think some platform patches to Cricket have found their way directly into the Debian packages, but I don't know the details.
