If am correct in assuming that you, by "hostname", mean the configured hostname that can be collected using the SNMP OID SNMPv2-MIB::sysName, the answer is no.

NAV places a certain emphasis on good practices, and proper DNS practices are among those.

We have previously tossed around some ideas about collecting and storing both the DNS name and the SNMP sysname, and have the admin configure which of these two to use as the "official NAV name" of the device, but none of these ideas have made it into the codebase yet.
