No, recent versions of NAV will only check the specific VLANs reported by the device itself through the queries I sent you examples of. If none are reported, none are queried.
In the Seed DB I have set the device to "GW", I tested to change to GSW and then the SNMP traps is not generated.
That's weird; the code involved here doesn't distinguish between device categories, it just checks what VLANs the device reports, if any. Could you share with us the actual responses given to the snmp queries you performed (censoring any secrets from the community outputs)?
So, can this be related to Cisco model 28xx or is this related to configuration on the device when it comes to VLAN/VTP?
I still don't have enough information to make any qualified guesses here..
Is this an issue known in other implementations of NAV?
What other implementations would that be? Which version of NAV are you using, by the way?
