Hi, we are running NAV 4.4.4 on a dedicated Debian Wheezy box with backports enabled.
AFAIK we have to upgrade Debian from Wheezy to Jessie to get the latest NAV release.
Can I just replace wheezy to jessie in sources.list and nav.list and do an upgrade/dist-upgrade?

That's the gist of it, yes.
Just remember that dist-upgrade to Jessie will leave you with the unsupported PostgreSQL 9.1 server - you will need to manually migrate your existing 9.1 PostgreSQL server to the 9.4 version, if you want a version that will still receive security updates from Debian.
It's pretty straightforward, but may cause you some downtime. See [1] for a summary of how to do it.
Also, we experienced some really weird performance issues with the graphite-carbon version that comes with Jessie. So much so that we downgraded all our customers to the version that came with Debian Wheezy.
