Hi, I am trying nav for the first time. I have a seed device. A LLDP neighbor us detected as "unrecognized neighbor". nav can access the device with SNMP. nav does not add this device automatically. Do I have to add the new device manually? Why does nav not add it automatically? Hi Michael, glad to hear it!

Yes, you will. If the Unrecognized Neighbor record contains an IP address, you can use the plus-button to fill this address into a new IP Device form in SeedDB.
Why does nav not add it automatically?
NAV never had an autodiscovery function. It is assumed you already have an inventory of deployed devices. If you do, this would normally be easily adapted into a CSV-formatted file that can be bulk-imported into NAV. If you don't know what you have already deployed in your network, you have organizational problems that NAV was never intended to solve for you. -- sincerely, Morten Brekkevold Uninett
