problem with installing nav

Hello, I'm working on linux Debian and i have little permissions. I'm trying to install NAV using your guide of "getting started". When I try to run "nav start" I get that the following services are down: eventengine getDeviceData snmptrapd. I recieve the following error msg: "Failed: eventengine getDeviceData snmptrapd Errors: tmp (Command failed: 32256)" When trying to run "etc/init.d/eventengine start" I recieve the following error msg: " createConnection ClassNotFoundExecption error: org.postgresql.Driver Error, could not connect to database! Failed". When trying to run "etc/init.d/snmptrapd start" I recieve the following error msg: "psycopg.ProgrammingError: ERROR: relation "subsystem" does not exist INSERT INTO subsystem (SELECT 'snmptrapd', '' WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM subsystem WHERE name = 'snmptrapd')) Failed". What should I do? Thank you.

That object contains both source and agent, where source is the ip-source address and agent is the agent-address. However, if you are referring to the linkupdown-traphandler, I agree that the use of trap source to locate the device that triggered the event is wrong. When snmptrapd receives a snmptrap it is _not_ supposed to use the IP-source address of the packet as the sender of the trap, but look inside the snmp-packet (agent-addr in SNMPv1) to see who the trap really comes from. Come to think of it, I believe the code for IPv6 is still in my branch and needs to be merged with trunk. After installing nav in the test enviorment on opensuse 10.2, I installed nav on a new virtual production system with opensuse 10.3. BTW the python version is the same. Nav is starting without errors, but in the toolbox Alert Profiles is empty. Yes. The same problem was discussed on this list in May. See http://desperados.itea.ntnu.no/pipermail/nav-users/2007-May/001635.html . Basically this error comes up on newer versions of mod_python. Your options are: * Upgrade to NAV 3.3 (I don't think anyone has made an RPM of this version yet, though. That doesn't work, still the error page with status. When I comment out the next two lines in /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/mod_python/importer.py # Check for an attempt by the module to import # itself. => # if parent_info: => # assert(file != parent_info.file), "Import cycle in %s." % file Status seems to be working. The toolbox/alert profiles page is complete empty, only a white page is displaying.
