NAV mac-search with Nexus and FabricPath

Hi, we have FP activated in our datacenter and use Cisco Nexus (5,6,7)k. I'm not sure what caused the problem but NAV can't find MAC-addresses on these devices and even on catalysts behind them anymore. I don't know what algorithm is used to figure out where a MAC-address is attached but maybe someone who knows can clarify what is needed for that to work? Mobile routers in NAV

Hi! I will be deploying about 100 mobile routers in cars the next six months, they will be offline whenever the car is moving and out of cellular coverage and when the car is not in use by our roadside people. These routers will be in a closed VPN/APN from our teleprovider so I have full access and controll whenever they are online. I'm wondering how to add these to NAV; I really don't care if they are down and preferably they should not show up as such under "Status". I would like statistics whenever they are online (not to mention the mac-adresses connected, possibly also a few other more specialized metrics like cell signal and so on). If it matters; we'll be using Cisco hardened 819 routers with an integrated WiFi access point. Anyone having any pointers to how I should manage them in NAV? Cheers, -Sigurd

White spaces in graphs

Hi, my graphs are getting white spaces and I'm trying to tune ipdevpolld: Running with no tuning at all about 80% of the graph is white on every port/device. If I restart ipdevpolld manually with -m most of my graphs are ok, occasionally I get white spaces, lets say around 1-2% of the last day. First of all, is there a way to run ipdevpolld with multiprocess without doing a manual start of the process? (I would expect something in /etc/default/nav.) Besides running multiprocess, what else is usefull? I've tried incereasing max-repetitions without much luck. I do have some timeout issues on satellite links so I've increased this to 4.5. I initially thought this was a graphite problem, but I've heavilly tuned my graphite-host and there seems to be no problems there, running carbon-relay and four carbon-cache and from what I can gather they are not hit hard at all. I have about 46k ports and 1500 devices, one dedicated server for graphite, one for postgresql and one for gui, ipdevpolld and other nav processes. Any hints? Cheers, -Sigurd

Problem upgrading 4.0.0 -> 4.1.1

Hi, I just tried to upgrade, but now I have some issues: - I had 4.0.0 working -Then I downloaded 4.1.1 and do config and make - I pip installed django-hstore - then service nav stop, make install - service nav start Now It complains that ipdevpoll failed to start and I'm also unable to log in to web interface with 500 Error. navsyncdb, hstore extension and superuser

Trying to upgrade my database from 3.15 to 4.1.1. I see that the script tries to connect as user 'root' while "Creating hstore extension": Creating hstore extension in database nav psql: FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "129.242.5.180", user "root", database "nav", SSL off Failed to install the hstore extension, maybe you need to run as the postgres superuser? I can of course edit my pg_hba.conf but it will not help since my postgres superuser is 'pgsql' not 'root'. How can I make the script connect as user 'pgsql'? or Can I instead run some sql by hand? --Ingeborg

Hi, A couple of short questions about NAV API: I want to search NAV for a mac address in arp, and only get back last seen. Is that possible ? An how do I do that ? Is there a feature for sorting of the results ? -- Jarle Teigen
