Announcement: NAV 3.9.0b1 released

A beta version of the upcoming 3.9 series of NAV, version 3.9.0b1, is now available for download at Launchpad for those who wish to test it: https://launchpad.net/nav/3.9/3.9.0b1 The 3.9 series include these improvements: User-visible features and improvements: * NAV's threshold monitoring feature has finally been completed - Threshold Manager is a new web tool that allows adjusting threshold values for individual statistical data sources. Alerts generated by the threshold monitor can be subscribed to in users' alert profiles. * MAC Watch is a new web tool that maintains a watch list of MAC addresses. Whenever a watched MAC address appears on your network, NAV will send an alert that can be subscribed to. * ipdevpoll can now retrieve VLAN configuration from Extreme Networks devices. * ipdevpoll can now optionally use the pynetsnmp library as an alternative to the TwistedSNMP/PySNMP combination. pynetsnmp is a ctypes binding to the well-known NetSNMP library, and should noticeably improve performance if used. * Layer 2 topology discovery has been rewritten from scratch, due to both problems with the results of the old discovery code and problems with maintaining the old code. Delete Some Prefix

Hi All/Morten I want to correcting the prefix already configured in the Prefix Column. But there's no delete button ? Is that mean I have to delete it directly in the database ? Thanks Royke

Hello, i am install on: Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 Codename: maverick but it don't work. I start: # /etc/init.d/nav start Starting Network Administration Visualized: Starting: alertengine cricket eventengine ipdevpoll logengine mactrace maintengine networkDiscovery pping servicemon smsd snmptrapd thresholdMon . I try http://localhost/nav What is the right URL to start ?? In the whole docu's say's "start the web interface" but what ist the web interface URL ?? Sorry reg volker

How to connect devices in Netmap view

Hi, I try to connect between routers and switches within our network so I can view it in Netmap view on the toolbox. I've read the guides in http://metanav.uninett.no/subnetsandvlans#guide_lines_for_configuring_route…. I've create the vlan and change the description on the routers and switches to match the requirement based on the guidelines. However, I'm unable to connect the routers and switches on the netmap. The devices on the netmap are not connected and seems like "flying" on it's own and hard to capture to view all devices at the same time. Could you give me a hint, for example how to connect between two devices and view it correctly on the netmap view. Thanks. Regards Royke

Rename interfaces?

Hi, Is there a way to rename the 'interface'-fields on a switch? We have some (really) old switches (Netgear FSM726) that has really long interface-names; "FSM726 Management Switch 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Network Interface 1", which kinda breaks the "Switch port status"- and "Switch port activity"-tabs on the "IP Device Info"-page of the devices in question. Could I change this in the DB in some way? Or will it just be overwritten next time navcron runs? -- Joachim
