I have some problems with Cricket, there is no description for router graphs. These are cisco 7206, 750x, 7140 boxes. Description on routers interfaces are in following format (example): interface FastEthernet1/0/0.200 description elink,xxx_gw,xxx,,200 And in "Router ports report", for this port I can see: - in vlan column: "200" - in nettype column: "elink" - in netident: "router_name,xxx_gw" so it is recognized correctly in NAV... For switches - cisco 2900, 2950 there is no problem, all interfaces are described properly in Cricket. As far as I know Nav has got problems with auto-detecting such connections. My question: - is possible to "tell" Nav that particular connection exists? Or howto manage ATM-connections. I would like to have such connections in traffic-map... ATM-interfaces are correctly discovered in NAV - in "router ports report" I can see them with almost all informations but "Vlan number". Unfortunately the only doc I can find here is in Norwegian: http://metanav.ntnu.no/v2/admindok/navrunkonv.html Do we have an English version of this document? The short version is that the router description should be: link,$to_router[,$comment,$vlan] -- Kristian

Hello, Today I did NAV installation using this excellent howto: http://metanav.ntnu.no/moin.cgi/InstallingOnRHEL4 After adding some devices I have problem with using nav start/stop script: [root@nav ~]# /usr/local/nav/bin/nav start "-":8: bad minute errors in crontab file, can't install. It would make it super-simple to get NAV up and running on almost any x86 computer (even windows!), and installing it for real would be a simple matter of copying all the files on the VMWare partition onto a real partition. It should also not be much work to do. Does ITEA have a VMWare license? -- Kristian

You were right. add_missing_from is off by default in pgsql 8.1 This should solve a couple of my problems. I discovered a similar "missing FROM-clause entry" problem in the messages module. This makes since :) So, today I had some time, gave the problem a go, and this is what I've come up with: IP Devices->Add doesn't populate the netboxcategory table, it doesn't even let you choose from subcat table in the web form! Netboxcategory has 2 fkey's, netboxid = netbox.netboxid and category = subcat.subcatid. I tried populating netboxcategory myself, but the problem persists! I think the problem is in the IP Devices->Edit query, the error again: --- ProgrammingError: ERROR: missing FROM-clause entry for table "netboxcategory" SELECT netboxid,netboxcategory.category FROM netbox WHERE netboxcategory.netboxid=netboxid --- Now I have no experience with postgressql, but have about 5 years of mysql experience, and this query doesn't make much since to me. There is no reference to netboxcategory in the FROM clause, but the SELECT uses it!? Maybe I'm wrong. Also, I think that the idea of add ip devices is to first populate netbox and then call edit (or part from it) to populate netboxcategory and probably other tables. And this is where the module crashes. But don't take my word for it, because I haven't used NAV before, nor have I examined the code!!! Hope this helps. On the other subject: A BIG thanks to my fellow FreeBSD users :P All NAV modules work now! Alert Profiles still has some errors (I assume they are trivial, haven't had time to check), and Cricket still doesn't display files from /images and doesn't read the .css so it looks kinda grouse :) Apart from that, I have a working NAV >:) Morten, I have a favor to ask. Since I have a deadline until Monday to get NAV running (or we will use cacti+kannel), could you look into my ip devices->edit problem. I'm more of a Perl guy, so Python is new to me. Thanks all!
