netmap and lag

Hi NAV gurus, We have a very limited test envioronment for NAV, our environment are Foundry based (->Brocade-> Arris and Extreme now). We have enabled lldp on edge switches, but not on ALL upstream routers. Even on connections with lldp on, the map does not show LAG ports correctly, it seems. Is there a manual way to fix netmap problem for those it fails to correctly identify the connections? Thank you. Sizing the NAV server

Hi NAV gurus, I have been testing NAV on and off for a while with a fraction of our devices on a small VM. I like it more and more as I am getting used to it. I would like to get recommendation of a NAV setup that can handle our environment. Our network is layered like the following: Border Router: 2 Core and Area Router: ~30 Building Router: ~100 Edge Switch: ~1500 Shall we use one big server or multiple servers, physical or virtual for various NAV management components? Announcement: NAV 4.8.4 released

The fourth maintenance release of the 4.8 series of NAV is now out! The source code is available for download at GitHub [1]. New packages for Debian 8/9 (Jessie/Stretch) are published in our APT repository [2], as usual. The virtual appliance will be updated shortly. Interface graphs only showing in Graphite

Hi list In my search for the missing link, I'm looking for a clue stick as to where my interface graphs disappear. I have installed Nav version 4.8.3 on Debian Stretch and currently monitoring two HP switches, ProCurve 2810 and 2910. The problem I have is in the "ranked statistics"-page, there is no interface traffic data in the graphs - instead I get a message: "No data was found for the given timeframe. This may indicate a problem with the data collection and/or presentation. Try choosing a longer timeframe to see when the problem started." But I do get graphs if I choose the "CPU highest average" - so SNMP apparently is working fine. When I access Graphite directly on port 8000 and traverse the tree Metrics-> nav-> devices-> ip-> port-> ifinOctets I am able to see a graph for that interface. What link between Nav and Graphite am I missing? Curiously I tried the shrink wrapped image on a VirtualBox and had the opposite problem. Monitoring another Procurve 2910 I only got traffic graphs and no "CPU highest average"-graphs. Kind regards Søren Aurehøj - Fab:IT

You are in fact experiencing a cache saturation problem with carbon-cache, but it's somehow being masked by its reporting of negative cache numbers. I'd try a newer version of carbon-cache if I were you, to see if that helps. If you are indeed experiencing cache saturation, a non-buggy version might expose it properly and you can take the necessary steps - such as running multiple carbon-caches or storing your Whisper files on an SSD (although I'll add, as I've done before, that we are running carbon-cache 0.9.10 in production, as upgrading to 0.9.12 gave us abysmal performance, with cache saturation on almost every installation - so even downgrading might help). How to add "Getting started" widget

I seem to have removed the "Getting started with NAV" widget from det default user, and now new users miss the opportunity to take the 30 second tour. How do I add this? Is that a healthy carbon cache?

Hello, we're having problems with gaps in graphs (only for some interfaces) and I'm working through the https://nav.uninett.no/doc/4.8/faq/graph_gaps.html guide. I've arrived at the part with the "Carbon Cache" and I'd like to know whether those two graphs represent a healthy state: http://abload.de/img/e7zassl.png http://abload.de/img/jyz3sjf.png What strikes me as odd is that there are negative numbers, I can't see that on the graph on https://nav.uninett.no/doc/4.8/faq/graph_gaps.html Best regards Karl

Integrated Documentation Wiki

Hello: Is there any efforts to add a "Wiki" or "Documentation" tab to netboxes and rooms? I'm thinking of integrating something like a mini wiki, like TiddlyWiki , in an additional tab for netboxes and rooms to have field editable configuration notes, etc. - maybe with the ability to store files to be associated with the device or room also (manuals, configs, drawings, photos, screencaps, et al). Looking to see if anything similar is being worked on, before I start studying the NAV code and look how to integrate such. Business report - linkDown, erroneous listings

The business report for Link Availability are supposed to show links that are expected to be up but are experiencing downtime. Links that have never been up or that are down and the linkDown alert is acknowledged/cleared will not show up here. Have I understood this correctly? We now have a handful of links which have been down "forever", but NAV did at some point last Friday decide that the links were up, ended the linkDown status and shows the links in the business report with nn% downtime. All these links are still down and NAV thinks the link is Inactive. (It is possible that the NAV processes including ipdevpoll was restarted at the point the error was introduced) How can we clean up this mess and remove the links from the business report? --Ingeborg
