Hello Everyone,
I have installed the NAV3.0.0 on a CentOS system[Linux version 2.6.9-22.0.1.EL (buildcentos@x8664-build)]
Originally I had installed most of the devices into the Database and everything seemed to be working well. The program did not see module 1 / port 1 on several devices. All of the other ports and modules showed up. After this I tried adding new devices to the database and they would not show up in the network explorer.
To try and fix this problem I decided to dump the databases and recreate them and try adding the devices again. This did not work. The devices showed up but the problem with missing ports was still there.
I then tried dropping the databases again, removing all of the files installed, and walked through the install process again.
Now only the first ip-device I installed shows up in the network-explorer, yet they are all in the report. I've tried all the cron jobs for navcron and still only the one shows up. All of the devices show that their gateway is the ip address of the first device added to the database.

This ip '172.20.8.13' becomes the gateway for all other devices discovered after adding this one.
1) How do I force an update for Network Explorer?
2) How do I get NAV to show the first port on the first module of a switch? (172.20.8.13)
3) How do I get NAV to reteive the correct gateway information for a device? (172.20.8.13)
4) What do I change to get the rest of the modules to show up in the core device? (172.18.0.2)
I know this is a lot to look at but I would greatly appreciate help with any of these questions. Adam

Hi again,
I changed php5 with php4 and the extensions you suggested. I double checked my setup against the post from Roar and the setup steps that Dru sent me. Everyting seems ok, but... The proglem persists!
So, let's thake a look at another problem, maybe will solve the problem by attacking another one :)
This is what happens when i clikc on the Network Explorer from my Toolbox: ----- Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/nav/lib/python/nav/web/pyproxy/proxy.py", line 61, in handler user=user, session=req.session.id) File "/usr/local/nav/lib/python/nav/web/pyproxy/proxy.py", line 124, in doRequest request.request(method, path, query, headers) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/httplib.py", line 801, in request self._send_request(method, url, body, headers) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/httplib.py", line 824, in _send_request self.endheaders() File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/httplib.py", line 795, in endheaders self._send_output() File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/httplib.py", line 676, in _send_output self.send(msg) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/httplib.py", line 643, in send self.connect() File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/httplib.py", line 627, in connect raise socket.error, msg error: (61, 'Connection refused') ----- Any suggestions?!
Also to remind you, my posgres log file is filling up with "unexpected EOF on client connection". This is a subject I found in the mail archive but found no solution for.
Thanks alot for taking the tame!

Hi,
That is exactly what I did in my install of NAV, except of the edit in /usr/local/cricket/cricket/lib/RRD/File.pm.
I use php5, so maybe the problem is there. Also php5 doesn't have overload in the extensions.
Anyway, thanks for the post. It was nice to compare what I did to my poor nav install with someone else :P

Hello !
I installed NAV 3.0.b10 on a FreeBSD 5.4 from ports. Had some trouble setting everything up :) and apparently still have some troubles.
The port doesn't install everything you need to get each module working.
I'm
working on a how-to as I've resolved most of the issues on a FreeBSD 6.0.
If
you want to send me a copy of your pkg_info we can start comparing systems
from there.
Please read my posting on this forum earlier regarding NAV and FreeBSD, read this info and maybe some info is still missing ?
http://desperados.itea.ntnu.no/pipermail/nav-users/2005-August/000912.html
Btw, the FreeBSD port of NAV is dead, but we are hoping that we have a new maintainer soon.
