I've just installed NAV 3.2.2 (using Werners package) on Debian Sarge,
but get the following errors during startup:
As far as I know, this happens when your JAVA_HOME is not set correctly,
or when the local java-lib /usr/local/nav/lib/java (or something like that),
is not readable or corrupt.
Check you JAVA_HOME settings, both from env and in nav.conf. Then check if
you can start the system manually, using the params the startup script gives
em.

As we discussed on IRC just before I went on vacation, the problem is using
kaffe as the JVM on Debian Sarge. The version of kaffe in Sarge will not
understand the command line option -Djava.ext.dirs=<nav library dir> (and
afaik, it only supports Java 1.1, which is too old). This means that it can't
find the NAV Java libraries without mucking about with your CLASSPATH
environment variable or editing the startup scripts. Solution: Use some other
JVM; I hear Sun makes one ;-)
Thought I'd post it here to have it on record.

Good choice :) We've never tested NAV with psycopg2, but I find it a bit
strange that it doesn't work out of the box :-/

The pping and servicemon processes seem to have intermittent startup problems.
When this occurs, it usually helps to retry starting them up about 3-4 times.
If they still will not keep running, we need to start checking other sources
of failure.
We have it on our TODO-list to investigate and fix these intermittent startup
problems.

As John-Magne has already answered, we do want the old archives (even though
it is somewhat useless for those who can't read Norwegian).

36 emails in July? Egads, that sounds well above the norm! Well, yes please,
unless they're complete junk, I would like to see them posted to the list.
Primarily I would like them in the archives, but it's a pain trying to respond
to e-mails that aren't in my mail client. With apologies to anyone who
subscribed in or prior to 2004 and receives them twice.

I took the liberty to read trough them an they were mostly spam. The two
that I escaped my "manual filter" was posted to the list.

Hi,
i try to repost a question about a HP9304M core switch that doesn't get
correctly identified by nav: it doesn't show any module and any port.
Here follows the output of the 67 snmp functions nav discovers.
Is there something more i can do?
Best regards, Marco Barbieri

Hi again,
i'm sorry i've posted the wrong data, in the previous post you can find a
HP5412zl that NAV detects well.
Here there's the data about HP9304M (it's marked HP but it's a Foundry
machine) that has the problem, it's a chassis with 4 slots, 3 of them are
loaded with 8 gbic sockets boards.
Sorry for the wrong post.
Ciao, marco.

What exactly do you mean by "result"? Does the page consist of only this
plaintext number and nothing else?

You don't specify which version of NAV you are running, but I'm sure you're
not using anything earlier than 3.1.1. We fixed a long standing problem with
missing link load in the Traffic Map in that version, but you may be
experiencing a different problem. The Traffic Map applet requests its data
from the vPServer servlet running in the Tomcat container; the vPServer
component calls the vprrd.py script to retrieve the actual RRD data, and
something might have gone wrong during the calling of this script.
I have to go now, but I will get back to you on this later, when I figure out
whether there are any logs you can check to find the problem.

Hi Morten,
1. Yes, the page consist of only this plaintext numbers.
0 32 64 96 128 160 192 224
I declared the parent cidr prefix as "scope" and nav dicovered the child prefixes from this parent cidr block.
2. It's NAV 3.2.2
Thank a lot,
Gheorghe
