The first beta test release of NAV 3.6 is now available for download at Launchpad, NAV 3.6.0b1: https://launchpad.net/nav/3.6/3.6.0b1
Beta testing is open to anyone, but please be aware, this code IS NOT production ready. If you wish to test the beta code, do so on a dedicated test system. Three of our own customers, in addition to our self, will be running "official" beta tests, so we have a good spread in the types of networks and devices we get to test the new code on.
NAV 3.6 makes substantial changes to NAV's core inventory data model, and introduces a new SNMP collector. The complete changelog is attached to this message.
A binary package for Debian 5 (Lenny) will be made available as soon as possible. The Debian package is maintained by Morten Werner Forsbring, on commission From UNINETT.
Happy NAVing everyone!

I'm getting a bit rusty at building feature releases for NAV: This release contains a stupid bug that was caught immediately by Morten Werner Forsbring while building a Debian package.
The proper DB schema upgrade script had not been prepared. There were even bugs in the schema initialization scripts.
I've fixed these problems and re-released this as NAV 3.6.0b1.1, available at Launchpad now: https://launchpad.net/nav/3.6/3.6.0b1.1
The following still stands:

I'm not attaching changelogs/release notes this time, as only the described issues have been resolved.
Apologies for the mess (but then again, it seems no-one has jumped in the beta pool yet).

Debian packages for these beta releases of 3.6 will be available from this repository on Alioth:
deb http://pkg-nav.alioth.debian.org/debian lenny-test local
Only built for Debian Lenny now, but let me know if you want packages built for Squeeze or some Ubuntu distro, and I'll have a look.
The packages from the -test-repository should of course not be used on production systems.
