Problem with case sensitive hostname/sysname

Hi. Is there any solution to this "problem"... I'm having the same issue, and it's a bit annoying. The Yes, this is most likely caused by too many entries in the alerttype table. My suggestion would be to delete all entries from that table and re-run the INSERT statements from manage.sql. -- Kristian

Hi! I am new to NAV! I have installed it from debian package. I did some database seeding and i get SNMP data from router, but: 1. I dont get any Statistics 2. Vlan problems, traffic map, network explorer

Hi - i'm having two problems, which i suspect are related. I have just installed nav (debian package, version 2+3.0rc1-3) and set it up according to the docs. I have added our router and a few of our switches to the database but when i visit the traffic map, all i see is the router. Ditto for the network explorer. What exactly is required for devices to show up? I then noticed that it wasn't picking up the vlans correctly when i looked in reports. They're all set to blank. I've added one router which is a cisco 7204vxr, one cisco 2900 switch and one dell Powerconnect 5224 switch. Based on previous posts, i looked in the swport table in the manage database and can confirm that it has picked up the correct vlans from one of our switches at least. getBoksMacs.log contains lines like these: Oct 13 16:10:03 2005 getBoksData_01 QUERY_NETBOX-6-MAC_ENTRY Missing swportid for ifindex 25 on boks: cisco0 Oct 13 16:10:03 2005 getBoksData_01 QUERY_NETBOX-6-MAC_ENTRY Querying vlan: 1, MACs: 56 Mappings: 22 Blocked: 0 / 1 Oct 13 16:10:03 2005 getBoksData_01 QUERY_NETBOX-6-MAC_ENTRY Fetching vlan: 2 It has lines like that for all of our vlans. More info on http://metanav.ntnu.no/moin.cgi/SeedEssentials After you have given necessary seed info on your routers and switches, gDD (getDeviceData) will start to collect information from the devices. The arp logger and cam logger will in turn collect and store arp and cam data. With this in place you can use the machine tracker to track live and historical data regarding an ip address and in turn (or directly) a mac address.
