This bug was fixed in that release. The problem was that a newer version of mod_python serves this page with an automatic content-type of text/plain, because it couldn't see an <html> at the start of the page. Hello List I have some problems to run NAV on freebsd 6.1 (i386). I used the description from http://metanav.ntnu.no/moin.cgi/DevVerToFreeBSD The installation worked without any problems. When I try to start nav with ./nav start I always get an error message like: Fatal error: Could not find the nav.startstop module. Is your PYTHONPATH environment correctly set up? I've set the PYTHONPATH to /usr/local/nav/lib/python but I still got the same error message. This are all python programs I already installed: py24-cheetah-1.0 py24-forgethtml-20041021 py24-forgetsql-0.5.1 py24-mx-base-2.0.6 py24-psycopg-1.1.21 py24-rrdtool_lgpl-0.2.1_1 python-2.4.3 Is there something missing? Hi ! Don't know if other NAV users see this problem in Cricket ? Problem description : The description field is "missing" on all "giga-router-interfaces", eg : gigabitethernet3_1 [ Octets ] [ UcastPackets ] [ Errors ] No description available But if I look at a "giga-switch-ports" on the same router/switch then the description field is correct. Problem with Browsing rrd files

Hello everyone To install nav3.1.0, I have got a problem about Compiling the SimpleSnmp, the system shows that: BUILD FAILED /nav/nav-3.1.0/src/SimpleSnmp/build.xml:30: Compile failed; see the compiler err or output for details. And there is another problem about the rrdtool. As I know , the py-rrdtool-0.21 can't support rrdtool of version 1.2 or over, how about the rrdtool-python-1.2.3, dose it support rrdtool-1.2.x? can anybody who can help me ? also ,I can only find the nav-3.1.0 source package, is anybody who has got the rpm package, please tell me where can I get it. Hello, On installing NAV3.1, the notes mention a new autodiscovery tool: * Autodiscovery command line tool added to contrib. This tool will try to discover every managed network device within your network, and add them to NAV. But, I don't see this on install. In the src directory, I see autodiscovery. Interesting observation, Kristian, but your advice isn't very helpful without any examples or concrete ideas. What, in your opinion, is a "proper version system for schema changes"? My take on this is that schema changes are relatively few and far apart in NAV today. Therefore I don't see the need to invest a lot of time into devising some elaborate system to avoid having to manually write sql patch scripts. My suggestions is rather to implement a project policy to commit patch scripts along with any schema alterations. That way, a poor release coordinator (me) won't have to piece together every schema change that took place since the last release, and produce a whopping mishmash of hopefully consistent SQL upgrade statements on each release. Also, this should solve the problem for the few who might be using bleeding edge code from trunk at all times. They might not all be SQL wizards, able to analyze the changes and whip up their own SQL statements to change the schema, but each revision that updates the schema will come with an up-to-date upgrade script. Hi. I still have above 160' switch ports. HP switches not running VTP have above 60' switch ports. I also have a location in another city (Kristiansund) with another VTP. Every vlan defined in the main location (Molde) are reported on the switches in Kristiansund, even if they are not defined in Kristiansund. VLAN information is missing for ports on some switches in the sw-port report. I have tried the "netbox.uptodate field to false" and remove/add the switch without any success. I have several other identically switches without this "problem" running the same catos version. The default password of the admin user is 'admin', if that doesn't work for you, the problem is elsewhere. I have installed the nav-3.0.1, instead of using psycopg1.x, I use psycopg2.0, in some configure files , it is written like this: import psycopg. then ,when I open the index page, it would say : No module named psycopg. if I change it to : from psycopg2 import psycopg1 as psycopg. then the problem will be fixed. I don't know wether it would effect the nav going well? hello everyone, About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I wrote some letters , because I have got some problems about the web interface, and I found that I cannot login to the web, first, even the webpage cannot be shown in the browser, it shows the problem like this: No module named ..., but , in this root , I can find this module straightly, I don't understand why the system said like that, then I wrote a letter to the nav-user, but no one answer me. After a few days with no letter come , I did fix the problem, a new one coming, this time, the system shows: ImportError: cannot import psycopgmodule.so, the request denied this made me go mad, I got so puzzled with it, I thought maybe because I' m using psycopg2 instead of psycopg1, then each time when this problem occured, I add this sentence into the file: from psycopg2 import psycopg1 as psycopg Then the problem solved. Now I can see webpages, but when I want to login as a user named 'admin' , and using the ' admin ' as the password , the system said no such name segment named 'admin' . If I can't use ' admin ' as user, which usrname can I use? also the password? By the way, my OS is ferdora Core4 , and postgresql is 8.0.3, the Version of Nav is 3.0.1, version of Python is 2.4, Version of mod_python is 3.2.7, Version of psycopg is 2.0.2. dear Sir/Madam, I am Patrick, from China, I don't know wether I should send this mail to you or not? I just want to ask a question about the nav. I download NAV3.0.1 from the website, and I think I have already installed this software in my OS(Fedora core 4). I configured everything ( include the apache ) And I started the httpd, tomcat5, postgresql, after I run " nav start " , everything seems ok, then ,what should I do in the following. I have checked the introduction on the web, it said I should go to the web ,which served by my apache server,to login, named as "admin", and also use the password as "admin" for the first time. Then I got puzzled, I don't understand, when I checked the root: /usr/local/nav/apache/webroot, ( the introduction told me to set the document root of apache to "/usr/local/nav/apache/webroot",and I did it.) but I can't find any webpage in this dirctory, there is only one file named index, and it's full name is index.py, is it supposed to be the NAV frontpage? Hi, We realize that there is a quite well hidden contrib to NAV out there that is worthy a better advertisement. Mailin is implemented by Andreas Solberg at UNINETT; MailIn is a subsystem of NAV, which receives an e-mail at stdin, find an appropriate parser for the current mail, and post an event to the NAV system. The parsers are created using a plugin architecture. Each parser is a class placed in the plugins/ folder, and inherits from EventSystem. I configured everything( include the apache) And I started the httpd, tomcat5, postgresql, after I run " nav start ", everything seems ok, then ,what should I do in the following. I have checked the introduction on the web, it said I should go to the web ,which served by my apache server,to login, named as "admin", and also use the password of "admin" for the first time. Then I got puzzled, I don't understand, when I checked the root: /usr/local/nav/apache/webroot,( the introduction told me to set the document root of apache to "/usr/local/nav/apache/webroot",and I did it.) but I can't find any webpage in this dirctory, there is only one file named index, and it's full name is index.py, and there is another file named usradmin.py, others are all directories, what wrong with the frontpage? Hello, first - I don't know java. So, I apologize if this is really basic. I am trying to install Nav-3.0.1 from the source on Suse 10.0. I have been using the Sles 9 instruction for a guide for required packages. That led me to my first error - I suspect these two errors are related Error 1: This isn't really an error, but a lack of knowledge on my part, I guess. I never made it past error #2 below, but side stepped it by installing the RPM. So - If anyone has any suggestions for fixing that, I would like to continue that path also. System details: Suse 10.0 Postgres 8.1.3 Nav-3.0.0-1, installed from the noarch rpm, using nodep (had to use nodep because it wanted postgres 7.x) When adding a new device, I get this database error. I hope someone can help? You'll be prompted for the navcron user's password if you're not running the command as root. '-c /bin/bash' in case the navcron user does not have a shell. I'm not very into NAV yet :-) To run the commands or a shell as the navcron user with sudo: ``sudo -u postgres ../compile'' or ``sudo -u postgres /bin/bash''. You will need to have sudo rights in /etc/sudoers (do not edit directly, man sudoers) and will be prompted for your own password unless you run sudo as root. PS!
