Webfront authentication with encrypted LDAP to Windows Server fails
by Roger Aas 28 Sep '17

28 Sep '17

Hi, I have the NAV webfront LDAP authentication working with a Windows AD server, but only with unencrypted traffic on port 389. In the file /etc/nav/webfront/webfront.conf port = 389 encryption = none It works well with search for user in the AD tree and group requirement. But if I change encryption to tls, or port to 636 and encryption to ssl then it fails. Anyone have this working? If yes, what did you have to do to get it to work? I can not use it as it is as both the user account used for binding to the server and the user trying to authenticate have their passwords in cleartext in the packets. Best regards, Roger

Hello, I was curious as to the disk space usage that NAV will potentially use? How far back will it keep data for? I got ours up and running last week. We have roughly 550 nodes. Thanks, Will

Hi, Everything is working like a charm now, except GEOmaqp. Still no links between locations? Whatever setting I try, nothing shows up…… Only the dots on the locations change from grey to green when playing with the settings….. Anyone a clue/hint? ServiceState alert showing in UTC timezone
by Bruce Zhang 14 Sep '17

14 Sep '17

Hi there, Sorry to bother you all again. It's really wired. I have changed time_zone in nav.conf and all time is correct on the front page. But only the Service state alert's start time and end time is showing in UTC timezone. I went through database and confirmed those time was recorded by UTC timezone, as below: SQL: select * from manage.alerthist As you can see, the other’s alert in thresholdState is correct. I also looked into python code, In python/nav/models/event.py class AlertQueue(models.Model, EventMixIn): time = models.DateTimeField() class AlertHistory(models.Model, EventMixIn): start_time = models.DateTimeField() I changed those code to models.DateTimeField(default=dt.datetime.now), but still got same issue. I was just wondering has anyone run into the same problem? Cheers. Bruce

Could we updated NAV port metrics every 1 min?
by Bruce Zhang 11 Sep '17

11 Sep '17

Hi all, I am a network administrator and new to NAV. I really like NAV and am going to use it. But I found the Port Metrics Traffic graphs is updating every 5 mins.(I knew it's default intervals for NAV) I want to get more accurate Port traffic graphs, so could we change it from 300s to 60s? I did research and changed storage-schemas.conf(added 60s:1d) and used whisper-info to ensure those ports traffic wsp files have been changed to 60s. But I still can't get correct data via rickshaw JS and NAV still collected data in every 300s. So is that possible to change it? Or someone can point me to the right direction? Thanks. Bruce

Delayed alerts
by Roger Aas 04 Sep '17

04 Sep '17

Is it possible to configure alerts for a boxdown alert to be sent after a specified amount of downtime, f.ex. 4 days? I have a customer with some Cisco IR809 industrial routers installed on LNG trailer trucks that go active when the trailer is started and goes down when the trailer is parked. This means the router goes down and comes up all the time, we do not want alerts for that. But if the router does not become active after f.ex. 4 days the customer would like to get a message about that, maybe it means there is some other problem with the connection that they need to check. Is this possible with NAV? I only find "weekly at predefined time", but if I set the "Weekly dispatch time" to "08:00" and "Weekly dispatch day" to "monday", and the truck is parked Sunday evening, I will get a message Monday morning that it is down, even if it has been down for just some hours. I basically want a to be able to set a delay for alerts that counts down a specified amount of minutes/hours/days before sending a boxdown alert. Best regards, Roger

Getting GPS data from routers
by Roger Aas 01 Sep '17

01 Sep '17

Some models of Cisco routers have inbuilt GPS antennas and it is possible to get location data from the router, using both CLI and SNMP. Is it possible to add code in NAV to import this GPS data into the "Position" field in the "Rooms" data? For routers that are in a static location it means the location will be correct, not a best effort by pointing on a map. :-) For routers that are in motion it means it is possible to track them and at least know the last location. lng-truck-1-L22#show cellular 0 gps detail GPS Info ------------- GPS Feature: enabled GPS Port Selected: Dedicated GPS port GPS State: GPS enabled GPS auto tracking status: unknown GPS auto tracking config: disabled GPS Mode Configured: standalone Latitude: 60 Deg 28 Min 54.7647 Sec North Longitude: 5 Deg 23 Min 22.7313 Sec East Timestamp (GMT): Wed Aug 30 09:46:56 2017 Fix type index: 0, Height: 81 m HDOP: 0.8, GPS Mode Used: standalone Satellite Info ---------------- Satellite #2, elevation 17, azimuth 42, SNR 34 Satellite #9, elevation 11, azimuth 347, SNR 35 Satellite #16, elevation 17, azimuth 288, SNR 39 Satellite #21, elevation 25, azimuth 177, SNR 38 Satellite #23, elevation 15, azimuth 320, SNR 42 Satellite #25, elevation 27, azimuth 123, SNR 43 Satellite #26, elevation 45, azimuth 282, SNR 46 Satellite #29, elevation 65, azimuth 88, SNR 34 Satellite #31, elevation 45, azimuth 222, SNR 43 Satellite #5, elevation 16, azimuth 75, SNR 0 Satellite #20, elevation 6, azimuth 118, SNR 0 roger@nav:~$ snmpwalk -On -c secretpw -v 2c 10.140.73.1 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.1.16 = INTEGER: 2 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.2.16 = INTEGER: 2 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.3.16 = INTEGER: 48 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.4.16 = STRING: "59 Deg 25 Min 24 Sec North" .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.5.16 = STRING: "5 Deg 25 Min 26 Sec East" .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.6.16 = STRING: "GMT: Wed Aug 30 10:00:17 2017 " .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.7.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.8.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.9.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.10.16 = INTEGER: 2 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.11.16 = INTEGER: 1 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.12.16 = INTEGER: 19 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.13.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.14.16 = INTEGER: 2 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.15.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.16.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.17.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.18.16 = Gauge32: 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.19.16 = Gauge32: 11 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.1 (c3gLbsModeSelected) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.2 (c3gLbsState) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.3 (c3gLbsLocFixError) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.4 (c3gLbsLatitude) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.5 (c3gLbsLongitude) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.6 (c3gLbsTimeStamp) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.7 (c3gLbsLocUncertaintyAngle) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.8 (c3gLbsLocUncertaintyA) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.9 (c3gLbsLocUncertaintyPos) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.10 (c3gLbsFixtype) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.11 (c3gLbsHeightValid) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.12 (c3gLbsHeight) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.13 (c3gLbsLocUncertaintyVertical) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.14 (c3gLbsVelocityValid) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.15 (c3gLbsHeading) 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.661.1.4.1.1.1.16 (c3gLbsVelocityHorizontal) Best regards, Roger

Topology not updating properly
by Andreas Dobloug 31 Aug '17

Sorry for spamming the list: the old topology detector has been removed, so please ignore this. We're still having problems with the topology not updating. Is this related to the way we handle linkdown status messages? Should they be cleared or acknowledged when the topology has changed? best regards Andreas Dobloug USIT/UiO > -----Original Message----- > From: Andreas Dobloug > Sent: Thursday, August 24, 2017 10:22 AM > To: Andreas Dobloug <andreas.dobloug(a)usit.uio.no>; Morten Brekkevold > <morten.brekkevold(a)uninett.no> > Cc: nav-users(a)uninett.no > Subject: RE: Outdated cam records > > > We've tried this, and nothing is logged other than "topo for <switch> > completed > > in ..." > > > > Should we try to activate the old topology detector (/usr/lib/nav/network- > > discovery)? > > > > Sorry, this last part is probably unrelated: the topology is also not updating. > > best regards > Andreas Dobloug > USIT/UiO
