Layer 2 traffic map

I have been reading the information provided in the screenshots section. It appears that the traffic map is layer 3, and the network explorer is layer 2. Is there a way to graphically view the layer 2 information in network explorer? (Sadly, I have not been able to perform a successful installation of NAV.) Morten, Thanks for finding that. I am trying to use that file in SLES. 1. cp /etc/apache2/httpd.conf /etc/apache2/http.conf.save 2. tuxdev:/etc/apache2 # rcapache2 configtest Syntax error on line 14 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: ServerRoot must be a valid directory What should "ServerRoot" be set to? I guessed "/usr/share/apache2/". 3. tuxdev:/etc/apache2 # rcapache2 configtest Syntax error on line 226 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/share/apache2/modules/mod_python.so into server: /usr/share/apache2/modules/mod_python.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory tuxdev:/etc/apache2 # tuxdev:/etc/apache2 # locate mod_python.so /usr/lib/apache2/mod_python.so A problem loading the python module. You can fix this problem by uncommenting the line in eventEngine.conf which sets the alertTickLength (default is 60 seconds) and restart event engine. Note that there should not be a semicolon at the end of the line, so if there is one remove it. -- Kristian

I will internally (ntnu/uninett) suggest an intense equipment test program where we test variuos new equipment in a structured manner. In the process we should look at improving logging and in the end provide a cookbook / check list for how to test a new switch/router in NAV. A device can be supported in NAV on different levels: 1: basis: only status monitoring of the device. no information on ports (l2 or l3 ports) 2: information on ports but no vlan information. This also includes cricket/rrd statistics 3: physical topology detected. machine tracker capable 4: full topology: vlan information (trunk and none trunk ports) Variuos log files / web pages should be checked in the process from initial seeding in edit database untill you reach level 4. Worst- and bestcase timeframe should also be dedumentet - Vidar
