Undocumented dependency

Hello all, We've discovered that there is an undocumented dependency in NAV [1]. If you wish to use the service monitor's radius checker, you need to install the python module pyrad [2], AKA python-pyrad on Debian. It seems the original developer of the radius checker plugin did not report this dependency when the plugin was submitted to NAV. Yesterday we rebooted the switch to which our NAV-box is connected. The result was of course 1000+ alerts about our whole network going down and coming up again. The correct behaviour would of course be that NAV found out that it was _itself_ that had lost network connectivity and that the rest of the world was undetermined. 1 alert about this would suffice. --Ingeborg -- Ingeborg Østrem Hellemo -- ingeborg(a)cc.uit.no (Univ. of Tromsø, Norway)

Cricket problem

I suppose this topic would suit better on a cricket mailing list, but I'll give it a shot here. Ever since I tweaked the cricket version in NAV to not log INFO level to /var/log/cricket/normal.log, my cricket has completely stopped drawing graphs. I don't even know if the error is related with my cricket not drawing anything, but as its classified as an "error" I suppose its worth mentioning. collect-subtrees and the other navcron initiated cronjobs seems to finish without significant errors (except some interface mapping issues) and I don't think the collector itself doesn't work. I just think it for some reason can't draw the graphs onto the default graph template. So in other words, I see the graph template but no data written onto it. Access group SMS does not work using http-sending of SMS?

Hi, in our test-soon-to-be-production-NAV (3.4.4), we send SMS by using the HttpGetDispatcher. From smsd.conf: dispatcher1: HttpGetDispatcher dispatcher2: GammuDispatcher My username is the only user allowed to get SMS from this test-NAV. (Alert profiles, group SMS) Still, other users keep getting SMS. As far as I know, the objective of the SMS group is to limit the number of users receiving SMS (cost-perspective). Has anyone else similar experiences? It this a known bug? Suggetions? Gro-Anita NTNU IT

Keep getting SMS alerts even though the phone number is removed from the Alert Profile

Hi, I am getting sms alerts to a phone that I have removed from the active alert profile in NAV. I did have this number there earlier, but I removed it several days ago. The new phone numbers added in the alert profiles aren't getting any alerts, this is also the case with the e-mail address I have added. It seems like NAV is using my old alert profile to send out the alerts. Is it any way to "update" this, so that NAV uses the current phone numbers in the profile instead of the old number? setup of NAV - problems with java

NAV 3.5.0b3 is now available for download at Launchpad: https://launchpad.net/nav/3.5/3.5.0b3 This is the third beta test release of the 3.5 series; the changelog is attached to this message. Binary packages for Debian will be available as soon as possible. The Debian package is maintained by Morten Werner Forsbring, on commission >From UNINETT. The same upgrade instructions as for 3.5.0b1 apply for those who are upgrading from 3.4. If you have been testing the previous beta releases and are upgrading to this updated version, please follow the updated database schema upgrade instructions in doc/sql/upgrades/README (paying special attention to the part about namespace search paths). PHP/.htaccess error message

Hello, I have a fresh Install of Debian with a fresh install of NAV. (The machine briefly had the beta version, but I purged that package.) Installing went fine, but I had to run the database creation script manually for some reason. And I had to manually download and install a backport of python to meet the version requirements. I get this error in my apache2 error log when I try to access AlertProfiles : /var/www/nav/alertprofiles/.htaccess: Invalid command 'php_flag', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Everything else seems to be running fine. I can add locations, rooms, devices and the log suggests all the devices I add are checked by ping. I have tried renaming the file, but that gives me a 403 instead. Commenting out the php_flag line in .htaccess gives what looks like the actual code instead of the page. Using php_value instead of php_flag gives the same message. Contents in the file are as follows : SetHandler none php_flag register_globals on The machine is running on : Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) mod_python/3.2.10 Python/2.4.4 NAV version : 3.4.4 Anyone got any pointers on what could be wrong? -- Lars Marius Schjærin Brednett AS

Alert profiles

I can't get NAV to send alerts when IP devices is down, neither e-mail nor sms alert. I have added G01: All alerts for the profile, I am allowed to receive SMS in my account. Gammu is also installed. What am I doing wrong? I also tried adding my own filter group with different filter alerts, but nothing worked. Regards, Lene Maria Myhre Wireless Trondheim
