Hello, I don’t know the root of this problem, but I seem to have a module that has either been switched or replaced that is generating a load of error messages in /var/log/nav/cricket/normal.log. The error messages look like this, but I see no information about which device is generating these errors while being polled: [12-Feb-2009 14:58:39*] Failed to map instance for 4_47. NAV installing problem

Hi! I'm the one that try to install NAV in Debian. But I stucked at "aptitude install nav" command as Terminal told me "the following packages have unmet dependencies: nav :Depends: java5-runtume which is a virtual package. or sun-java5-jre which is a virtual package. Resolving dependencies"" the following action will resolve these dependencies: Keep the following packages at their currect version: nav [Not installed] python-pysnmp-common[Not installed] python-pysnmp2 [Not installed] python-pysnmp4 [Not installed] python-pysnmp4-mibs [Not installed] Score is -9965 Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?]" What should i do next? Any help will be grateful My country is hard to find some experts to fix this problem T_T

NAV fails to gather serial number information

Hello, I have a rather funky problem with a few switches when adding them to NAV. Some of these swithes are *OLD* 2500 and 3500 series, and NAV will simply fail getting the serial info from the switches. Instead it will poll something like "0x0000F". I've been thinking for a long time that the serial OID was unsupported by the certain old IOS, but recently I've started seeing the same behavior on newer Cisco series such as the Catalyst 3560 series. NAV will fetch the serial info off some of these devices just perfect, while with some switches will return "Cisco 3560" as serial. I've tried added a fake serial on the few switches where I have this problem, but NAV often fails in general to poll port info etc off these devices with bogus serial info. I've done some research on two EXACT same devices (series, IOS and bootstrap version) and here is the info: Both devices show: Cisco IOS Software, C3560 Software (C3560-IPBASEK9-M), Version 12.2(46)SE, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2) Copyright (c) 1986-2008 by Cisco Systems, Inc. I can understand how it COULD fail on some devices for SOME reason, but why would it completely halt NAV from polling info properly? And can someone please report back if they have the same problem? Undocumented dependency

Hello all, We've discovered that there is an undocumented dependency in NAV [1]. If you wish to use the service monitor's radius checker, you need to install the python module pyrad [2], AKA python-pyrad on Debian. It seems the original developer of the radius checker plugin did not report this dependency when the plugin was submitted to NAV. Yesterday we rebooted the switch to which our NAV-box is connected. The result was of course 1000+ alerts about our whole network going down and coming up again. Cricket problem

I suppose this topic would suit better on a cricket mailing list, but I'll give it a shot here. Ever since I tweaked the cricket version in NAV to not log INFO level to /var/log/cricket/normal.log, my cricket has completely stopped drawing graphs. I don't even know if the error is related with my cricket not drawing anything, but as its classified as an "error" I suppose its worth mentioning. collect-subtrees and the other navcron initiated cronjobs seems to finish without significant errors (except some interface mapping issues) and I don't think the collector itself doesn't work. I just think it for some reason can't draw the graphs onto the default graph template. So in other words, I see the graph template but no data written onto it. Access group SMS does not work using http-sending of SMS?

Hi, in our test-soon-to-be-production-NAV (3.4.4), we send SMS by using the HttpGetDispatcher. From smsd.conf: dispatcher1: HttpGetDispatcher dispatcher2: GammuDispatcher My username is the only user allowed to get SMS from this test-NAV. (Alert profiles, group SMS) Still, other users keep getting SMS. As far as I know, the objective of the SMS group is to limit the number of users receiving SMS (cost-perspective). Has anyone else similar experiences? It this a known bug? Suggetions? Gro-Anita NTNU IT

Keep getting SMS alerts even though the phone number is removed from the Alert Profile

Hi, I am getting sms alerts to a phone that I have removed from the active alert profile in NAV. I did have this number there earlier, but I removed it several days ago. The new phone numbers added in the alert profiles aren't getting any alerts, this is also the case with the e-mail address I have added. It seems like NAV is using my old alert profile to send out the alerts. Is it any way to "update" this, so that NAV uses the current phone numbers in the profile instead of the old number? setup of NAV - problems with java
